5 Months Old

Little man turned 5 months old Christmas Day!

This is sickly over due.

How embarrassing.

The sad thing is, is that it's all turning into one big blur! I'm going to have to start working on these monthly blogs as the month goes because a month in recap is blowing my mind.

What to say what to say...

We had Christmas (see older posts) and it was great.

T-Rex and Berk got passed around like a couple adorable sacks of potatoes.

Totally recovered from his acid reflux (I believe) and he had his 4 month apt and he's doing great, gotta work on tummy time more.

T pooped and peed in his little potty (see older posts) a few days before Christmas and that was pretty cool. He did great with it for a couple weeks but now that he's over his cold he's not as on schedule as he was. say la vie.

He loves taking naps in his swing at home and the swing at work. Also he got "upgraded" to his big boy car seat a week or two before Christmas. I think he's a lot more comfortable!

He's playing with toys more and more and he's engaged in other peoples conversations. He's really into everything and grabbing at all kinds of things he should and shouldn't grab.

He also really likes to be read to.

Christmas day he weighed 17lb 5oz and seemed to be still 26"

Thats all that really comes to mind :)

After all it was the holidays! heh.

potty time!

buddah bath time!

in my big boy britax!

still prefer to face out (for now mwhaha)

Crunchy Fail

I have no other words for myself and my interactions with the world.

Geeks are chic, nerds are smart.
I am neither, so all that really leaves is DORK!

Cloth Diaper Fails

So far I've been using with pretty great 2-3 hour success Fuzzibunz and Charlie Banana AIO OS Cloth Diapers

I also bought some GroVia Hybrids with disposable and cloth inserts for trips and things like that.

So I decided to venture onto Etsy for the rest of my cloth diaper stash and I stumbled upon these beauties...

I loved the fabric instantly so I bought them and they came all the way from Canada.
These bad boys come with two hemp/cloth inserts making a grand total of eight layers of protection which I thought would be great for all night diapers.

I decided to put them on him Thursday night and he pretty much looked like a 17 lb sumo wrestler.

I thought to myself surely this can't be right!? This looks terrible on him and there's no way he could wear clothing with all this fluff! So I posted to my lovely baby-mama's on IG and one friend finally said "It needs a cover"
Holy smokes yet ANOTHER layer!?

Ive decided now to stick with a bit more mainstream CD methods.

Recently I was introduced to the beauty and functionality of a woven wrap.

Little did I know woven wraps are like their own language.

Here's what I know:
I think the girasol wraps are the prettiest.
I like the darker/cooler/purple fades the best vs the cream ones

They're mostly made in other countries so they have crazy hard to pronounce names like Amitola and whatnot. (redneck fail) there are different types of fabric that they're made out of too like cotton, wool, silk, linen etc, and blends.

They're said to offer much more versatility, feel cooler on the body, and support (which I have a hard time finding in the moby) and if I want to, T can face out.
Although it's not ergonomically recommended for his little body, it's what he likes and I've said so many times I want to scream.

Girasols are just the tip of the iceberg on woven wraps, but honestly I think it's as deep as I NEED to go.

Here are some on etsy
Instagram has been a wonderful place to find ladies that have a collection of beautiful wraps and babies that adore being in them... unlike mine who I've decided is a total firecracker.

I suppose it makes me a total poser, but I think they're super pretty, the most versatle and if it offers more support than the moby and is cooler to wear (temperature wise) I need one :)

Cons: whooo ex-pen-sive!!!
and I'm going to need a semester long course to learn various wraps

Trying our hand at Elimination Communication

This may be a stretch, but hey if we don't use the potty now we'll use it down the road.

T's elimination is pretty clockwork. Every morning when we wake up and I sit him up on "the pillow throne" and I proceed to get ready for the day. Once I'm done I take T to his room and we change his now dirty diaper and proceed with our day. On a typical day he doesn't poo any more until the next AM.
I read Beyond The Sling and currently reading Diaper Free and I thought hmmm.... "not having to wash a poo diaper would be pretty awesome." So I'm going to give this a try.

Along with my cloth diaper review... I'll post my thoughts on this when we get a-going.

Baby food

I've been excited about feeding Tru since he was two months old. It wasn't until he turned three months that we made the decision to delay solids until he's 6+ months old for GI and other digestive reasons. Now that he's honing on on five months I decided to go ahead and start batch cooking and freezing. Really the only reason I started with asparagus is because we had extra leftover from dinner and I didn't want to throw it out.
Since cooking the asparagus I made a mega trip to Sam's Club and bought avocados, bananas, green beans, apples, pears, white and sweet potatoes. I've only made the white potatoes since because everything is currently pretty green.
Anyways, so far so good. I'm still on board for cooking his own stuff. I DO think after doing this batch cooking I won't go out and but the 50lb bag of potatoes and stick to normal non bulk veg and fruit because I made a mega amount of white potatoes for him.

White potato party at my house! Bring your bibs!

Seasons Greetings

Sending some digital love from us to you.

I've been such a tight wad this year. I do apologize to friends and family for my cop-out gifts, anti-Christmas wrapping presents and hoarding of postage stamps.
We'll try harder next year?

It doesn't change how much I care for my friends new and old, local and far away, ones I see all the time and the ones I've never met.

You're special to me and I appreciate you.

Merry Christmas,
James, April, Truman & Hank

I wanna rock and roll all night

Ice cream for me?!

My darling MIL got Mollie (my SIL) and I a Yonanas pure fruit "ice cream"maker!

It's ice cream with with out the guilt... Or my favorite... Without the dairy!

According to the directions it only works with DOLE fruit as all other fruit is incapable of freezing ;) ;)

Funny Friday

Funnies I just found in my camera roll :-X

I've been playing with my camera again!

I *think* It's the light fixture in his overhead light that casts the yellow. I'm hoping to play again today with sunlight... (if we have any sunlight today that is)

In the mean time I'll leave the for real picture taking to the professionals.

Bath Time Fun :)

Vacuum Saleslady

Once upon a time I had a house cleaner that came a couple times a month.
Since having Tman and working semi-part time we no longer have help.
I've been cleaning this and that every day and today we tackled the carpet.

We have an Oreck XL & an iRobot for our floors for a weekly basis.
And the only carpet in our house is the three bedrooms and the top landing at the stairs.
Today after work T and I shampooed the upstairs (2 bed and landing). It hasn't been shampooed since April. (Yikes!)

(No we didn't plan oddly colored matching shirts. :-X)

Anyway we have had this beast for like 2-3 years now. It's a Bissel Pro Heat Pet. I guess it's specially designed for pet owners, like us.

So I did three tank fulls of water on the upstairs and this was the result...

if your name is Becki Jech look away now! We don't need you pooping your pants at the filth your daughter in law lets your son and grandson live in.

Yes that's WET dog hair. Ugh!!
Barf. I am so disgusted!

Like I said, this is wet dog hair... Can you imagine how big this pile would be it were dry?! Barf!

Plus we put up a baby gate to keep Hank out of the carpeted area and now he's figured out how to open it both sides!

Hank isn't the only one guilty of filth.

My hair seized up the brushes.

Since giving birth I've been losing hair like crazy. It was expected, but I can't believe the massive amount of hair that falls out of my head on a daily basis. I wasn't prepared.

Anyway so for Christmas I'm rooting for a new Dyson animal vacuum!
