Three Months Old!!

Well, today's the day, little man is 3 months old!
Doesn't seem that long ago he was turning one month & I was losing my mind!
So much has changed, and gotten better by far... except for that whole losing my mind bit.
This month he's really changed...
He's squealing, cooing and talking so much more...
He's become quite the social butterfly here at work & if I may say so... a bit of a flirt. Yesterday he wanted very little to do with me & went around with my mom for an hour seeing other people!

His hands are constantly in his mouth... sometimes sucking fingers or thumbs, but nothing consistent.

He still nurses often, but the time is much shorter and he has TONS more quiet & engaged times.
Meaning... He's becoming a lot more fun. That may not be the nicest thing to say but it's pretty true.
He's really enjoying books and TV... baseball mainly... James says Truman says "There's my four favorite players, pitcher, catcher, hitter & ump!" because he always seems to squeal when they're batting.

Here's a favorite pic of ours while Carlie was reading to him last weekend. ---->

I'd say he's doing 110% better than he was at this time last month.

So much so that he and I have been doing little mini-play-with-momma's-big-camera photo sessions in the afternoons after his "long" nap.

He and daddy are bonding more and more as well, every night James comes home he'll hold him in his "poop position" while I cook dinner.

Poop position? You're weird Jechs...

He's also a big fan of the Bumbo now, he'll hang out in it and watch TV... I think we may have a TV
bug on our hands!

side note: here I am bragging on how much better things are and he just had a major sleepy melt down.

We're definitely going in/in/coming out of the three month growth spurt. He's been nursing every two hours, all night long for the past couple days.

Wheeew... What else?
T's definitely discovered Hank. He hasn't reached out to touch him, but he likes to talk to and look at him!

As of today, according to our trusty analog scale & measuring tape:
Tman weighs- 13lb 2oz
& is 25" inches long!

Little did I retain...

What I wish I would have known/remembered about the first few weeks...

- That first night home when he nursed for hours on end, totally normal.
- When people say its hard but it gets easier is true.
- And by hard, they mean it in every way, emotionally, mentally & even sometimes physically.
- It's called nursing for a reason, they don't always go to the breast for food only.
- S/he's going to want to be with you constantly, s/he'll prefer you over anyone else because you are all s/he's ever known.
- Just because others hold her/him and s/he doesn't like it does not mean there's a problem.
- Dairy is the enemy (ha kidding a bit)
- babies are gassssy.
- search for a pediatrician that jives with you.
- stock up on batteries
- they're a heck of a lot tougher than you give them credit.
- try to live in the moment when you can. They will never be this small again.
- remember in tough times: "this too shall pass."
- You will gain a momma bear instinct: you'll be prepared to kill anything that may harm.
- every baby is different!
- those smiles/giggles and coos own your soul.
- your life for awhile will revolve around poop.
- You learn more and more as you go.

* I'm seriously going to make myself re-read this when I'm pregnant with our second child.

What do you wish you'd known/remembered?

Zmombie- mother running on lack of sleep obtaining zombie like status.

Heh :)
Truman was 10...
Weeks yesterday!!!
Holy smokes.

We had Tru's 2 month well check this AM and met the nicest doctor!! I've decided that she will be the doctor he sees each time we go!

She was super thorough and she checked out T for tongue tie and she says he has it. I've been trying to get him to stick his tongue out at me for a couple weeks now and he won't stick it out past his gums.
She referred him to an ENT and we go next week. :-/
I'm HOPING this will resolve a bit of his frequent nursing too.
Speaking of gums, Tru is teething! I'd wondered why he'd been drooling so much and our Doc said that's what's going on! I'm excited/nervous. I really didn't think this whole teething thing would start so soon.

How our new *favorite* pediatrician just saved James & I hundreds of dollars ...
Instead of spending 200$ a month on prescription Prevacid we can now get it OTC

Apparently it's the same dosage!
However now we have to break apart the capsules & let it sit in a bit of breast milk (say in a baby spoon) then feed it to him! Wah-lah! Big money SAVED!!
Tru's weight is still improving! He weighed 11 lb 6 oz!! This just tickled me to death. I'm so glad he's gaining weight better than he was before his medication!

Lastly on the ped apt.
Effing vaccinations.

Talk about a soul sucking experience.
Ugh. The look on his face.
Pure HELL!!
I really didn't want to do it, but there have been too many outbreaks of diseases a in our area. I just can't imagine Tru getting meningitis or TB when it can so easily be prevented.
He cried, I cried, we cried together. We nursed, he slept, and all is better now.

More proof that I'm subhuman

We had Colby Beth's bachelorette party this past weekend and what a blast it was!
Darling, saint, sweetheart Aunt Mollie took care of Tru while I went out for the very first time. It was Devine.
I. Was. Ready.
