Crotch Dangler

So my rotten I mean darling brother bought me a Babybjorn carrier for Christmas. We've tried the moby, the ergo and the ring sling and Tru doesn't like any of them! He'll tolerate it for about 10 minutes then he wants OUT. He screams, arches his back making all kinds of "get me the H out lady" noise.

He's really liked the Bjorn the most. I've heard it called a crotch dangler, and that its bad for hips and development. I've also heard that babies should face in.
He looooves to face out though. We've tried the hip carry in the ergo and his foot turned purple (freaked!!) and we tried hip carry in the moby and its fine just a little unstable for my taste.
So I went to the Babybjorn website and found this FAQ page that made me feel so much better. Then I got to thinking...
This is the carrier website, of COURSE they're not going to say "Yup, this thing is bad, better not use it!". So I decided to seek further help and found the hip dysphasia website and they all but come out and say this ain't good for hips.

So I'm torn, I know millions of parents have used carriers like these and have no trouble, but what are the odds that I'm not jacking up T's hips?
sorry if I'm freaking fellow Bjorn wearers out there and you're cursing me.... As if you don't have enough to worry about.

He's just so much more relaxed in this carrier vs the sling, ergo and moby.

What to do? What to do?

Funny Friday

Just received this email from my aunt! Really thought you all needed to see these!

Truman is Four Months Old + Thanksgiving + Christmas Decorating!

It's hard to believe that our boy is four months! Yet here we are! (Happily?!) ... It's bittersweet.
Definitely starting to see a trend- each month just gets better & better.
This past month he's started giggling, babbling, for fun screaming or hollering and sputtering/raspberries.

He now looooves his swing & I'd say off & on he spends an hour in it each day!

His cries have changed he mostly cries now because of frustration or sleepiness. No more "I hurt cries" which is great.

Speaking of I hurt cries... He'll be off Prevacid a week tomorrow!!

Lets see what else in notable---
He's nursing much quicker now.
He's enjoying tummy time & car seat a lot more.
His eye sight is so much better.
Everything must. go. in. mouth. grrr!
Full head/neck control when sitting up.
Much stronger core!
Loves to "stand" turns into a noodle!
If he's nursing & I'm eating he'll unlatch and watch me chow down. (Pretty cute)
Much more interested in toys and hanging out alone
Working on depth perception
He likes to scratch, pull, grasp everything
Smiles when he's getting tickled or kissed
Giggles at funny sounds and tickling his belly or chin
He's sleeping from about 9/10PM to 3/5 AM.
I still wake up 3+ times a night and switch nursing sides. Errr or two body parts wake me up.

That's all that I can think of for the moment.

Just Hanging out!

Milburn Thanksgiving

Decorating for Christmas!

Happy Four Months T-man!

We weighed him last night and he was 15lb 10oz and 26" long!

Going Green-ish

So a while ago James and I were talking about a now ever discussed topic in our home- Truman's bodily fluids and about the diapers we use. used Honest hybrids for awhile, they changed their diaper, he peed out of them 3+ times a day. Now we're on pampers.
We started discussing the option of cloth and if it's right for us.
Now that things are calmer in our house hold, meaning I can actually take a shower, or fold the laundry with out a total T melt down. I feel that I can take on a little more to my mothering responsibilities. We decided that we'd wait for T to get a bit bigger before we made the switch and use up our current diapers. After all isn't part of being green waste not want not?
So with all that said---
Tonight I was in the shower, and T was in his snugabunny. He was naked, in a towel with a washcloth on his behind & peep waiting for me to finish my shower so he can get his stink chin cleaned up too. While I was showering I kept hearing toots from the other side of the curtain, and when I opened the curtain I realized it was much more than toots.
Nevertheless I grabbed him, bathed him and got out of the shower and attempted to deal with "the issue". It was when I grabbed the soiled washcloth like it was a huge hairy spider I realized that cloth might not be for me. I mean seriously, this was 4 month old, EBF poo- this should NOT be a problem?!
So now I'm torn. I still would really like to give it a shot, but what if I muck it up and end up selling all the cloth diapers for a fraction of what I bought them at? I mean seriously, this boy poos like 4+ times a day! That's a lot of ew, if you know what I mean.
Anyway, I've got quite a bit of research to do on it. Our plan was to start it after he gains a bit more weight so he stays in one size longer than he would now. We're really wanting it to be cost effective in order to do this.

next morning update

Alright, it's ON.
We're gonna do this!!
I researched last night until my phone died/ I knocked out and then did it all again this AM.
If I know anything about me it's this:
1. I always love a good deal &
2. I hate clutter
And rando but relevant:
3. I do not like getting my hands dirty.

The thing I see about CD is that you gotta try several out, well we're going to try out three, possibly four OS AIO CD's (one size, all in one cloth diapers).
And get this-
Thanks to disposable liners- I don't have to touch poo. Meaning once he starts solids I can put in dryer sheet-esque disposable liners that catch the solids and flush it down the drain!

The types we're going to try out:
Charlie Banana
So far I've just ordered two... Awaiting more research and reviews on boys and Charlie Banana. ;)

As far as washing goes I'm going to try out Rockin' Green and use a scent free "Hard Rock" and go from there. Luckily they sale samples!

I'm excited! Right now all these sites are offering Black Friday/ Cyber Monday deals and if you ask me, the best deal I've seen is the Fuzzibunz buy four get two deal, free shipping and tax free for me.
I also plan to buy my wet bags and additional items at Terra-Tots so I can participate locally.

Once we figure out what I like we'll use our FREE (yippy!!!) Amazon credit from our credit cards and get the rest of the diapers.

I am excited, quite a bit nervous too.
I'm very excited about the idea that these will be all we need until he's potty trained AND the fact that we can use these for future kid(s). Not so gun shy about the idea of future kiddos. We don't have to wait for him to grow to a certain weight now as these are good for 10- big kid lbs.
*However we will still use up what we have, especially until we get the ball rolling on this!

I'll be sure to write a review!

Any suggestions- recommendations greatly welcome!

Tru has gotten to see two of his little buddies this past month!
It's so much fun seeing other babies and I know that soon they'll both not be able to keep their hands off of the other!

Here's Truman with his big buddy Braden!

Here's Lynnlee and Truman at my cousins wedding this weekend!
They held hands on a blanket together, awe.

I'm happy to say we have a family bed. A fun, giggly, puppy dog beggin, sweet kisses bed.
It just needs to be a bit bigger. :-)

Rights of Passage...

Teething Boy?

Since Tuesday our guy has been suffering.
He's spitting/throwing up 2-4x a day (yay laundry!)
Grabbing his ears and the hair/skin behind his ears.
Frequent, smelly, funky colored diapers.
Restlessness and irritability--- accompanied with screaming and crying.
Drooling rivers.
Stiff legs and arching back he looks like this ---> ) like 10-15x a day.

We finally went to the Dr this morning as I was sure it was teething pain, and several others thought it may be an ear infection.

Turns out it's neither.

Mysterious boy! Dr said he didn't see any inflamed gums so we most likely wouldn't see teeth for a little while, and his ears look great. So I did the whole "What about this and that?" questions and it all is still boiling down to is reflux.

He suggested that I start positioning him in more and different positions and he showed me a few things to do. He also suggested doing a more rigorous routine with him.

Trying out the wild Tommee Tippee teether

I'm so excited about solids!!
I can't wait to feed this little guy and let dad get in on the feeding fun too.
We've been doing some research on solids and we've decided to wait until he's 6-7 months old, or whenever he's able to sit up mostly unsupported, engaging in our dinner time, opening mouth/smacking lips, and mostly lost his sucking reflux.
I've read a little on the virgin gut theory and we've decided to go off of this (to a point). James and I have both had tummy troubles to one extent or another so we just want to give him the best possible start.

Here's an image on the open gut. on delaying solids

So anyway, I'm so ready to start solids but we'll wait a few months more.
We really don't see that he's ready right now. I give him his tummy "cocktail" to him by spoon and he kicks it out almost all the time. Plus he's not sitting up unsupported or even semi-supported. Just in the bumbo and on our laps.

My PLAN is to make our own solids when we do start!
I got a Baby Bullet for a shower gift and I can't wait to put it to good use!

And thanks to my friend, Emily for introducing me to this blog post on solids I've got a much more sound game plan. I bought these trays last week to get prepared!
Tovolo Ice Cube Trays

I have the greatest of intentions to do this... if I put my mind to it I know we'll make it work!
Here's another interesting link on the same ladies blog about solid FAQ'.
she's really got her business together... which is pretty intimidating!! Although I'm happy to be the gal who takes a little something from everyone I meet and leave the rest!

Must go... I smell a diaper that needs to be changed.
Had a little blog helper today :)

In other news...

What do Jessica Simpson & I have in common?
We both got pregnant, blew up all over ourselves and now we're both on weight watchers.

Difference is I have to pay and she's getting paid to do it.

Truman is doing well. He's still laughing and cooing/babbling a little more each day. He's been pretty consumed with chewing on everything. Also he seems to really enjoy his swing and play mat more and more. I think he's working on teething. He saturates his shirt collars every day and winces and whines when he's nursing.

James' job is a blast. I'm still jealous. He's got a project for Walleye end-caps in northern Wal-Marts for next spring. Walleye is my favorite fish to eat so I'm pretty stoked for him!

Hank is depressed. Apparently being a big brother is demanding work and he's not always up for the job. The vet recommended a pheromone collar.

Fall Family Fotos!

A couple weeks ago Trent Wilson took our first family photos on my grandparents farm. Trent and I have known each other for. ev. er.
Seriously like still poopin' in your pants forever ago.

Here are some of my faves:
It was super windy and I need a hair cut because it's getting a bit Little House on the Prairie.
